Fairing post-purchase surveys

Fairing asks shoppers after checkout how they heard about you. When you connect it, Creator Jam reads those answers, matches them to your creators, and turns them into estimated revenue for each creator and each video. Fairing is one of three attribution sources in Creator Jam, alongside GoAffPro affiliates and Shopify discount code uses.

The Fairing Integration card before a key is saved: paste the key into API Key, then click Save Credentials.

  1. Copy your API key from your Fairing account.

  2. In Creator Jam, open Settings → Integrations and find the Fairing Integration card.

  3. Paste the key into API Key and click Save Credentials.

The card then shows Credentials configured. Creator Jam doesn’t test the key when you save it. If the key is wrong, you’ll see Fairing’s error on the ROI page instead. To replace the key, click Update Credentials.

The connection is shared by your whole team, and the key is stored encrypted.

Creator Jam finds your questions automatically, so there’s nothing to map.

  • The main question. Creator Jam looks for a question worded like “How did you hear about us?”. It recognizes questions containing “how did you hear”, “how did you find”, “how did you discover”, “where did you hear” or “where did you find”. From this question it counts answers that name a creator, which usually means the free text a shopper types under Other.
  • The follow-ups. When a shopper picks YouTube, Podcast, Instagram, TikTok or Influencer, Fairing usually asks which creator. Creator Jam finds the follow-up attached to each of those options and reads it. Follow-ups under other options aren’t read.

If your main question is worded differently, Creator Jam can’t find it. Email Creator Jam support and ask for it to be set up for your store.

Each answer is checked against every creator on your team at once. A pick from a Fairing list, such as “Sam Builds Stuff (@sambuilds)”, or an answer that exactly matches a creator’s name credits only that creator. Free text credits every creator it names, so “saw it on sam builds stuff” counts for Sam Builds Stuff.

Picks from a list are the most reliable. To make your creators pickable in Fairing, see Sending creators to Fairing.

Not every shopper answers the survey, so Creator Jam scales the answers up. Each answer’s order total is divided by the share of shoppers who answer that question. A follow-up answer is scaled by both the main question’s rate and the follow-up’s, because fewer shoppers get through two questions than one.

With the default rates, about a third of shoppers answer the main question. So each surveyed order from the TikTok follow-up stands for about four real ones. That’s why Fairing revenue is always an estimate, not an exact count of sales. How attribution works explains the method in full, including how credit is split between a creator’s videos.

  • ROI → Fairing tab. Survey mentions, estimated revenue and ROAS for each creator, for the dates you pick. See The ROI page.
  • Home. The Fairing revenue tile and the top creators list, as long as Fairing is ticked on the Home Page card in Settings → Integrations. See The Home dashboard.
  • A channel’s Channel Performance section. Click Get Lifetime Performance to see a creator’s attributed revenue broken down by video. See Creator performance.
  • Your AI assistant, if you’ve connected one. See Claude and AI assistants.

Fairing revenue is never added to the Affiliates or Code Uses figures. One sale can appear in more than one source, so they’re shown side by side instead.

Fairing limits how many requests each store can make per minute, and a long date range can cover tens of thousands of answers. Creator Jam reads answers in large batches and keeps recent ones for a few minutes. Switching to a shorter range right after a longer one is quick, but the first lifetime report on a busy store can take a little while to load.

Sending creators to Fairing uses the same allowance. If a sync and a big report run together, either one can be slower.

Creator Jam shows an error instead of a zero, so a Fairing outage never looks like a creator who drove no sales.

  • On the ROI page, the Fairing tab shows the error Fairing returned.
  • In Channel Performance, a warning says attributed revenue is unavailable right now. Spend and views are still shown and are still accurate. Click Try again to reload.

Creator Jam uses only what attribution needs: the answer text, the order total, and when the answer was given. It doesn’t keep customer names, emails or addresses. Answers are read from Fairing when you open a report and aren’t stored with your Creator Jam data.
