Sending creators to Fairing

When a shopper says they found you on YouTube, Fairing can ask which creator and suggest names as they type. Creator Jam can fill those suggestion lists with your creators. A shopper then picks “Sam Builds Stuff (@sambuilds)” instead of typing “sam builds youtube”, and a pick from the list credits exactly that creator on the ROI page.

This is the only thing Creator Jam writes to Fairing. Everything else only reads your survey answers.

  • Connect Fairing. The controls appear on the Fairing Integration card once a key is saved. See Fairing.
  • Ask Fairing to approve your key. Fairing only lets approved partners add names to its lists. Until your key is approved, every sync stops with “This Fairing key isn’t approved to add sources.” Email support@fairing.co and ask them to enable it for your store. Nothing is sent until they do.
  • Connect the lists to your follow-up questions in Fairing. Shoppers only see a list on a follow-up question that’s connected to it. In Fairing, open the follow-up question, go to More actions → Edit → Responses, switch it from Manual entry to Managed list, and connect the lists you want.

Sending creators to Fairing, on the Fairing Integration card below Update Credentials, with Show creators open.

  1. Turn on Add creators to Fairing's auto-suggest to send creators now, then once a day.
  2. The summary line counts creators in Fairing and waiting to be sent. Sync now sends the waiting ones straight away.
  3. Each list a creator goes to has its own status. Creators that need attention are listed first.
  4. Also add as… sends a creator to more lists. Sam Builds Stuff also goes to the Podcast list.
  1. Open Settings → Integrations and find the Fairing Integration card.

  2. Turn on Add creators to Fairing’s auto-suggest. Creator Jam sends your creators straight away, then syncs again once a day.

  3. Check the summary line under the switch. It reads like “42 in Fairing · 3 to send · synced 2 minutes ago”.

Sync now sends anything waiting immediately, whether or not the daily sync is on. When nothing is waiting, the button reads Up to date.

A creator is sent when they have either:

  • a deal in Finalize contract, Content expected or Published, or
  • any content in Creator Jam, including organic mentions with no deal behind them.

Booked deals count so the name is already in the survey when the video goes live, which is when shoppers start naming the creator. Earlier stages (Reach out, Follow up, Negotiating) and Dead deals don’t count on their own. Most of those creators never post, and a name sent to Fairing can’t be taken back.

Each creator goes to the Fairing list for their platform. Fairing has no separate Instagram or TikTok list, so both go to its Influencer list.

Creator’s platform Fairing list What shoppers see
YouTube YouTube Sam Builds Stuff (@sambuilds)
Podcast Podcast The Slow Mornings Podcast
Instagram Influencer Hannah Brews (@hannahbrews)
TikTok Influencer Kai Outdoors (@kaioutdoors)
Blog, Other Not sent Shown as Not supported

The name is the channel’s name in Creator Jam. The handle comes from the channel’s link, and only from a real profile link: youtube.com/@sambuilds, instagram.com/hannahbrews or tiktok.com/@kaioutdoors. A YouTube channel saved with an older /channel/ or /c/ link is sent by name alone. Podcasts never send a handle.

Shoppers don’t always name a creator where you’d expect. A YouTuber with a podcast gets named under Podcast, and a podcast published on YouTube gets named under YouTube. You can send a creator to extra lists.

Also add as… on Sam Builds Stuff, with Podcast ticked. The creator's own platform is always ticked.

  1. On the Fairing Integration card, open Show creators. Use Filter by name to find the creator.

  2. Click Also add as… next to the creator.

  3. Tick the extra lists: YouTube, Podcast, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. The creator’s own platform is always ticked. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook all go to the Influencer list.

The link then reads “Also as Podcast”, for example. With the daily sync on, the new list is sent straight away. Otherwise it waits as To send until you click Sync now.

Each extra list follows the same naming rules. Sam Builds Stuff sent to the Podcast list appears as “Sam Builds Stuff”, with no handle. A Blog or Other creator with an extra list is sent to that list only.

Unticking a list stops Creator Jam sending it. It doesn’t take the creator out of that list in Fairing.

Open Show creators to see each creator’s status for each list. Each row shows the list and the name as shoppers see it, such as “YouTube · Sam Builds Stuff (@sambuilds)” or “Influencer (Instagram) · Hannah Brews (@hannahbrews)”. Creators that need attention are listed first.

Status What it means Sent on the next sync?
In Fairing In Fairing under its current name and handle No
To send Never sent to this list Yes
Changed Renamed, or has a new handle, since it was last sent Yes, as a new entry
Rejected Fairing refused it. The reason appears in its row, such as “name: can’t be blank”. Yes, on every sync until it’s fixed
Not supported Nothing can be sent: a Blog or Other creator with no extra list, or a channel with no name No

Changing only the capitalization of a name doesn’t count as a change, because Fairing ignores case and a leading @.

Creator Jam can’t remove names from Fairing

Section titled “Creator Jam can’t remove names from Fairing”

Fairing doesn’t let partners delete a name once it’s in a list. That means:

  • Renaming a creator adds a second option. The new name is sent as a new entry, and the old one stays.
  • A deal that dies after it was booked leaves the creator in the list.
  • Unticking an extra list leaves the creator in that list.

To tidy up, remove the old entries in Fairing’s list. Creator Jam won’t send a removed entry again unless the creator’s name or handle changes.

The latest error stays on the card until a sync succeeds. Creator Jam sends creators in batches of 100 and saves its progress after each one, so a sync that stops partway keeps what already went through.

Message What to do
This Fairing key isn’t approved to add sources… Email support@fairing.co and ask them to enable it for your store.
Fairing rejected the API key. Update it on the Fairing card. Paste a working key with Update Credentials.
Hit Fairing’s rate limit. The next sync will pick up where this one stopped. Nothing. The next sync carries on.
Fairing refused the request: … Read Fairing’s reason after the colon. Email Creator Jam support if it isn’t clear.

The lists don’t change how revenue is credited. Creator Jam credits a creator wherever shoppers name them, with or without the lists. The lists just make those answers exact.
