Custom fields

Custom fields let you track what matters to your team that Creator Jam doesn’t track out of the box, such as which product a creator features, how big a bet a deal is, or negotiation notes. You define a field once for your whole team, then fill it in on each channel or conversation.

Type What it holds You fill it in with
Single Option One choice from a list you define. A dropdown
Multi Option Any number of choices from a list you define. A menu of checkboxes
Notes Free text of up to 10,000 characters, with no list of options. A text box

Fields are set up separately for channels and for conversations. A channel field describes the creator, such as their audience region. A conversation field describes one deal, such as which product it promotes.

The Custom Fields page: one list of fields for channels, one for conversations.

  1. Fields for creators go in Channel Custom Fields. Fields for deals go in Conversation Custom Fields, below it.
  2. Each field shows its type, then its options, or Free text for a notes field.
  3. On a computer, hover over a field to show its pencil (edit) and trash (delete) icons.
  4. Add Field opens the form for a new field.
  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Custom Fields.

  2. In Channel Custom Fields or Conversation Custom Fields, click Add Field.

  3. Enter a Field Name, such as “Product”.

  4. Choose a Field Type: Single Option, Multi Option or Notes.

  5. For an option field, type each option and press Enter or a comma, for example “Whole Bean”, “Cold Brew” and “Gift Box”. You need at least one option.

  6. Click Save Field.

Each field name can be used once for channels and once for conversations. Fields appear in the order you created them.

  • On a channel: open the channel, click Edit Channel, fill in the Custom Fields section and click Save Changes.
  • On a conversation: open the deal’s conversation panel, fill in Custom Fields and click Save Changes.

To clear a value, choose Not set on a single option field, untick every option on a multi option field, or delete the text in a notes field. Then save.

  • Channels has a column for each channel field, which you can sort by. Option fields also get a Filter bar, and the search box matches custom field values too.
  • A channel’s details show its values when you’re not editing.
  • Conversations → Monthly Overview can filter a month’s deals by option fields from both channels and conversations. See Monthly Overview.

Notes fields can’t be used as filters, because there’s no list of options to choose from.

On Custom Fields, click the pencil icon next to a field (on a computer it shows when you hover over the field). You can rename it, change its options or change its type. Click Save Field when you’re done.

Removing or renaming an option doesn’t change any values already saved. If a channel or deal still has a value that’s no longer in the list, it stays saved and appears at the end of the list in that field’s dropdown or menu, so nothing disappears without you seeing it.

When you next edit that field on a channel or deal, choose a current option, or untick the old one on a multi option field. A selection that still includes a value that’s no longer in the list can’t be saved.

Changing the type reshapes the values already saved, so they fit the new type:

New type What happens to existing values
Notes Selections are joined into one note, separated by commas.
Single Option The first selection that’s still an option is kept. A note is kept only if it exactly matches an option. Anything else is cleared.
Multi Option Every selection that’s still an option is kept. A note is kept only if it exactly matches an option. Anything else is cleared.

Values that can’t be kept are removed, so check before you change the type of a field your team uses a lot.

Click the trash icon next to the field (on a computer, hover over it first) and confirm with Delete.

If you’ve connected Claude, it can list, create, edit and delete custom fields, change their order, and read or set their values. It can set one field on up to 200 channels or conversations at once, for example tagging every creator on a list you give it with “Cold Brew”. Claude also sees a channel’s or deal’s custom fields when it looks one up. See Claude and AI assistants (MCP).
